Bangkok: Penalties will be imposed on airline crew members who are hired to carry items onto aircraft. Airports of Thailand (AOT) has upgraded its aircraft security standards, establishing disciplinary and criminal penalties for crew members and airlines that violate regulations.
According to Thai News Agency, there have been arrests for heroin smuggling on airplanes; this year alone, 14 passengers have been apprehended with nearly 100,000 grams of heroin seized. The new measures are part of AOT's ongoing efforts to enhance security and combat illegal activities involving aircraft.
