Anutin Charnvirakul Assures Thailand’s Food Security Amid Public Concerns

Bangkok:Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has reassured the public that Thailand will not experience food shortages, emphasizing the country's status as a "breadbasket" and advising citizens to continue their daily lives without alarm.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin addressed public concerns following the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation's (DDPM) recommendation for a "Survival Kit" to sustain life for 72 hours during potential disasters, which had led to public panic and hoarding. He affirmed that Thailand, as a leading food-producing nation, has a secure food supply chain entirely based within the country, eliminating fears of shortages.

Anutin emphasized the importance of not being swayed by situations in other countries that might not have the same food production capabilities. He highlighted Thailand's growing significance on the global stage as a major producer of fruits, vegetables, agricultural products, processed goods, rice, cassava, and sugar, with a fully domestic supply chain.

Regarding concerns about technology-related crime and the threat of cyber attacks, Anutin pointed out that Thailand, as an exporter, relies on its industries to manage their supply chains, underscoring the nation's robust position as a key food producer.
