Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul paid respects to the sacred objects at Government House after winning the election, expressing gratitude to the people for their trust and support. He noted his pride in the confidence placed in him by the electorate. Anutin stated he was unaware of the National Anti-Corruption Commission's (NACC) indictment of 44 former Move Forward Party MPs, and mentioned no political party had yet congratulated him. He refrained from commenting on the relationship between Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai parties, suggesting instead that there are many bridges of friendship.
According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul descended from the Thai Khu Fah building at Government House to pay respects at the shrine of the guardian spirits and ancestral spirits, which are considered sacred sites. He shared with the press that he prays to these entities daily for good fortune and had come to express gratitude for receiving more blessings than expected.
Addressing questions about supernatural beliefs, Anutin remarked, "We believe in them. They serve as a reminder to us to do good things." He emphasized his pride in the trust and confidence the people have shown in him and the Bhumjaithai Party, which he considers his greatest achievement.
In response to reports about the NACC's indictment of former MPs from the Move Forward Party, Anutin noted his lack of awareness of the issue and indicated a need to verify the news. He expressed a commitment to encouraging all individuals involved, emphasizing the presence of a justice system in the country.
When questioned about the timing of the indictment near the election period, Anutin humorously distanced himself from the NACC, expressing reluctance to involve himself with the matter. He also clarified that no political party has contacted him with congratulations, despite stable vote counts.
Regarding the potential inclusion of the Pheu Thai Party in the government coalition, Anutin indicated that discussions and processes were ongoing within his party's executive committee. He did not provide a definitive answer on whether a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) would be necessary for forming the government.
Anutin addressed the rivalry between the Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai parties, making a metaphorical comparison to the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridges, suggesting the possibility of reconciliation.
Reflecting on a personal note, Anutin mentioned visiting his parents after the unofficial vote count showed his party leading. He shared that weekly visits to his parents are customary to express gratitude for their influence and teachings.
Concluding his visit, Anutin paid respects to the replica of the Narasimha statue atop the Thai Khu Fah building and made the "plus" gesture, symbolizing the Bhumjaithai Party's campaign policies.
