Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul has called on all political parties to emulate the Bhumjaithai Party's approach to governance, emphasizing accountability and integrity. In light of recent drug trafficking arrests, he reiterated the importance of maintaining confidentiality and promised that anyone found guilty will face the full force of the law.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin, who is both the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, spoke on the implications of the recent arrests and whether they involved politicians or other influential figures. He reassured the public, stating that he, along with key figures such as the National Police Chief and the Secretary-General of the Anti-Money Laundering Office, is committed to upholding the principles of anonymity and accountability. "We don't know who is who, but we will proceed with arrests based on the case files, the money trail, and all evidence. Whoever we find will be prosecuted," he stated.
Addressing concerns about political parties boasting or undermining each other, Anutin dismissed the notion of "bragging" and urged parties to focus on their work without resorting to criticism or underhanded tactics. He emphasized that such an approach will lead to a stronger and fairer election process. He also responded to social media discussions about the People's Party's slogan, stating that he is not interested in such exchanges and leaving it up to social media to decide.
As the election approaches in 38 days, Anutin encouraged all parties to concentrate on policies that benefit the public. Regarding campaign strategies, he mentioned that the Bhumjaithai Party is not focusing on large rallies but instead relies on candidates familiar with their constituencies. The party plans to engage with voters through smaller, localized efforts.
When questioned about his confidence in the upcoming election, Anutin deflected, emphasizing the importance of focusing on daily efforts to improve governance.
