Army Chief Intensifies Security Measures in Narathiwat Ahead of Hari Raya

Narathiwat: The Army Chief of Staff has taken decisive steps to enhance security and intelligence operations in Narathiwat as the region prepares for the upcoming Hari Raya celebrations.

According to Thai News Agency, General Phana Klaewplodthuk, the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army and Deputy Director-General of the Internal Security Operations Command, visited Narathiwat Province on March 18, 2026. Accompanied by a delegation of army commanders, General Klaewplodthuk aimed to bolster the morale of troops stationed in the southern border provinces. His visit included receiving briefings on operational outcomes and providing strategic guidance in collaboration with security agencies, military personnel, police, and local administrative officials.

The meeting in Narathiwat was attended by top security officials, including Lieutenant General Norathip Poynok, Commander of the 4th Army Area, and representatives from various security and administrative units. Held at the Marine Corps Task Force headquarters in Chulabhorn Camp, Mueang District, the discussions focused on intelligence gathering and proactive strategies to ensure public safety and area control.

During the meeting, updates on key operational achievements were shared by units such as the Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 Forward and the Southern Border Provinces Police Force. The discussions emphasized the need for continued efforts to track down and prosecute violent extremist groups, while also advancing development initiatives in the region.

General Klaewplodthuk highlighted the importance of ongoing evaluation and enhancement of operations to align with the national strategy for sustainable peace. He urged all units to intensify security measures, particularly during festive periods like Hari Raya, to safeguard the population and critical locations. The Army Chief reiterated the need for clear operational guidelines to ensure effective area control and the successful achievement of security objectives.
