Sa kaeo: The Commander of Army Region 1 is fully prepared to handle the border situation, emphasizing a commitment to reclaim Thai sovereignty and strictly enforce the closure of checkpoints along the Thai-Cambodian border.
According to Thai News Agency, Lt. Gen. Worayot Leungsuwan, Commander of the 1st Army Area and Operations Center, visited the Thai-Cambodian border in Sa Kaeo Province to assess the situation and coordinate with the Burapha Task Force and local agencies. He conducted meetings with Mr. Parinya Phothisat, Governor of Sa Kaeo Province, the Burapha Task Force, and various local law enforcement agencies to receive updates on the border situation and ensure control measures at the Ban Khlong Luek crossing are enforced. The Commander stressed the importance of strict checkpoint closure measures and the establishment of patrols to deter illegal activities, including immigration and scams. He also inspected the Ban Khlong Luek Railway Station for power and internet control, under the jurisdiction of the Aranyaprathet Electricity Authority and NBTC Region 14, to prevent illegal transmissions across the border.
Furthermore, the Commander reviewed the progress of mine clearance at Ban Nong Chan, where 32,000 sq.m. have been cleared, allowing the return of farmland to four individuals. The ongoing operation in Area C has yielded 437 sq.m. of cleared land and detected two PMN anti-personnel mines. The Commander urged continued caution in mine-clearing efforts to ensure safety in Thai territory. Additionally, health check-ups were provided to residents by the Mobile Medical Unit of the 19th Military Circle, along with food distribution at the Nong Chan Community Hall to support local communities.
The Commander also assessed the readiness of Task Forces 11, 12, and 13, offering encouragement to personnel for their dedication to border defense. He distributed food items from the Sai Jai Thai Foundation to boost morale and reiterated the commitment to protect Thailand’s borders and ensure the safety of the local population.
