Bangkok: The Prime Minister reiterated his firm commitment to decisive action after the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) seized Channopat’s assets. The Prime Minister emphasized that decisive action would be taken irrespective of any individual’s name or status, following the Anti-Money Laundering Office’s seizure of assets belonging to Chanonpat, a member of the Kla Tham Party. He stated that if any prosecution was warranted, it would proceed without hesitation.

According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, addressed the seizure of 159 million baht in assets from Chanonpat Naksua, a Songkhla MP. The AMLO’s investigation linked these assets to online gambling activities. Anutin articulated the government’s stance, “We don’t look at names, we look at behavior… If we find someone breaking the law, we must prosecute them.” His statements underscored a commitment to impartial law enforcement.

When questioned about any communications with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Colonel Thammanat Prompao, who is an advisor to the Kla Dharma Party, Anutin clarified that he had not engaged in any discussions regarding the matter. The responsibility, he indicated, lay entirely with the authorities to conduct investigations and prosecutions. He asserted that he maintained a position of non-interference, focusing solely on enforcing a policy against illegal activities.

Regarding potential pressures or demands related to government connections, the minister dismissed any such notions. He expressed confidence in the efforts of key officials, including Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, Mr. Thepsu Bowornchotidara, and Pol. Lt. Col. Yutthana Praedam, stating, “If they’re involved, they’ll be prosecuted.” This statement reinforced the administration’s dedication to upholding the law without exception.
