Arrest of fried chicken vendor who stole 6 baht of gold

A fried chicken vendor was arrested 100 km after stealing a 6 baht gold necklace from a gold shop in Bang Yai City Market. He confessed that he had more than 100,000 baht in debt to the informal sector and that the fried chicken was not selling well, so he decided to commit the crime. Looking back at the moment of the incident, the CCTV footage recorded the incident at 8:54 p.m., showing a large, fat man wearing a gray T-shirt, shorts, and blue rubber gloves selling fried chicken standing and talking with employees at a gold shop in Bang Yai District, Nonthaburi Province, to choose to buy two gold necklaces, each worth 3 baht, totaling 6 baht. He held the gold and pretended to try putting it on his neck. Then he tricked the employees into believing that his girlfriend was coming to the shop, causing the employees to believe him and open the door for him before quickly running out of the shop. Initially, he spent about 50 minutes in the shop. After the incident, Bang Yai Police Station went to inspect inside a gold shop in Bang Yai City Market, Bang Yai District, Nonthaburi Province. The salesperson was still in shock and reported that at around 6:00 p.m., the perpetrator came in and pretended to ask about the price of gold and then pretended to choose gold in the shop before leaving, saying that he would come back later. Then at around 7:00 p.m., he came back again to commit the crime. After the incident, officers went to the area to check the CCTV footage of the escape route and found that the perpetrator rode a motorcycle with a sidecar and fled along Kanchanaphisek Road. Initially, officers spent only 30 minutes to arrest Mr. Thawatchai, aged 41, at a residence in the Bang Mae Nang area, along with evidence of two 3-baht gold necklaces, totalling 6 baht, worth 255,300 baht, and a sidecar motorcycle used on the day of the incident. He was taken to the gold shop at the scene to reenact the crime. During questioning, he confessed that he works as a fried chicken vendor. The reason for committing the crime was b ecause he had more than 100,000 baht in debt outside the system and that the fried chicken was not selling well.
