According to Thai News Agency, Emery has been highlighted by British media as having the necessary skills, charisma, and experience to manage a high-profile club like Manchester United. This has prompted Aston Villa to take steps to secure his future with the club.

The current head coach of Manchester United, Michael Carrick, has experienced a challenging period, winning only one of the last ten games across all competitions. This performance has put the team's position at risk as they approach the November international break.

Previously, Unai Emery was suggested as a potential candidate for the Manchester United job by analyst Jamie Carragher. This led to a threat of legal action from Aston Villa, although the issue was resolved privately.
