Bangkok: Attorney Witoon has clarified allegations surrounding a 40,000 baht transfer slip linked to Boss Kan’s wife.
According to Thai News Agency, a popular Facebook page had posted the slip, claiming it was payment for Sunday visits by Boss Kan’s wife. Attorney Witoon Kengngan, representing Paul The Icon, dismissed these claims, suggesting it might be a diversion from reports about Chinese prisoners allegedly receiving special treatment.
Attorney Witoon stated that the money transfer evidence does not belong to Ploy, the wife of Boss Kant Kantathaworn. He mentioned that Boss The Icon had not engaged in any bribery, as his assets are already seized by the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO). Additionally, reports of Boss Kant moving freely outside prison hours were denied, with the attorney emphasizing that prisoners must remain inside the facility from 3:00 PM onwards. Ploy has confirmed that the slip is not hers.
In a conversation with Boss Kan’s lawyer, it was revealed that the family is distressed by these developments. The lawyer emphasized the necessity of prior knowledge for any visit to Boss Kan and confirmed that no visitation is scheduled for Sunday.
Legal experts have speculated that these allegations might be intended to distract from recent news about Chinese inmates receiving privileges. Typically, drug offenders can receive visitors on specific weekdays, and the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) is expected to probe the matter. Lawyers plan to request CCTV footage to verify the claims and may pursue legal action against the Facebook page.
Attorney Witoon also highlighted concerns about the denial of bail in courts, which he believes contributes to a growing number of suspects and new illicit practices within prisons. Those without resources are facing hardships, and with more individuals being denied bail, the issue has intensified.
