Australia: Australia has granted humanitarian visas to five Iranian women's national football players after they sought protection and asylum fearing punishment upon returning to Iran. Iranian authorities have labeled them "wartime rebels" after they refused to sing the national anthem before an Asian Cup match in Australia.

According to Thai News Agency, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said Australians were heartbroken by their plight and confirmed they were now in a safe location. The Australian government has offered assistance to the remaining footballers, and it is up to each individual to decide whether or not to accept it.

Previously, the United States urged Australia to expedite assistance for the athletes. President Donald Trump stated that if Australia did not grant asylum, the United States was prepared to take the group of athletes into its care, as it was concerned that their lives might be in danger if they were forced to return to Iran.
