According to Thai News Agency, on January 16, 2026, reports indicated that the operation took place on January 15 at approximately 12:00 PM. Under the direction of the 2nd Army Area and the Northeastern Border Narcotics Suppression and Precursor Chemical Command (NBS 24), the Narcotics Suppression and Extension Unit of the Nakhon Phanom Provincial Police, in cooperation with the That Phanom Police Station, inspected Happy Resort, Room 8, Village 11, That Phanom Subdistrict. This action followed information from a source about a group of young people using the area as a hiding place and distribution point for narcotics. Upo n arrival, officers observed two suspicious men arriving on a black Honda Scoopy motorcycle and parking near the resort. Noticing their suspicious behavior, the officers pursued and apprehended them after they attempted to flee. A subsequent search of room number 8 revealed a significant quantity of Category 1 narcotics (heroin) concealed in a shoulder bag and tissue boxes, totaling 44 bags and 92 packages, and weighing a combined 32.37 kilograms. The suspect confessed to owning the drugs and stated he was hired by a man named "Daeng," a Lao national, to collect the heroin from That Phanom district, store it temporarily, and then distribute it further inland. Authorities expanded their investigation to the That Phanom District bus terminal, using the suspect as a contact person to coordinate the operation. This led to the successful arrest of another suspect, a Lao national, who had traveled to receive the seized drugs. In summary, the operation resulted in the arrest of three suspects, consisting of two Th ais and one Laotian, along with the seizure of 32.37 kilograms of heroin and one motorcycle used in the crime. The suspects and seized items were handed over to the That Phanom Police Station for legal proceedings.
