Trat: The “Bear-Lion” animals abandoned at the Ban Tha Sen casino are scheduled to be relocated for care tomorrow. The relocation includes three bears and two lions, with preparations being finalized to ensure a smooth transport to a wildlife breeding station.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Atthapol Charoenchansa, the Director-General of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, received a report from Mr. Sukhi Boonkrang, Director of the Wildlife Conservation Office, detailing the readiness for the animals’ relocation. The animals, found at a casino on the Thai-Cambodian border near Ban Tha Sen, Laem Klat Subdistrict, Mueang District, Trat Province, have been regularly fed by officials to ensure they are in good health for the move.
The Wildlife Division of the Protected Area Administration Office 2 (Sriracha) (PAO 2) dispatched officers to provide a second feeding for the bears and lions today, following a previous feeding session. The veterinary team from Regional Office 2 assessed the animals’ health and readiness for transport again at 2:00 PM, confirming that the move could proceed as planned.
To facilitate the relocation, the Regional Wildlife Office 2 has prepared specialized wildlife transport vehicles and cages. Coordination with the Bang Lamung Wildlife Breeding Station in Chonburi Province has ensured that cages for the three bears, comprising two Asiatic black bears and one sun bear, are ready. Similarly, the Khao Son Wildlife Breeding Station in Ratchaburi Province has made arrangements for the lions’ accommodation, ensuring large cages are available for their arrival.
