Bangkok: The Bangkok Governor, Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, has initiated a comprehensive plan focusing on three critical areas: strict dust control, thorough site inspections, and flood prevention, in addition to maintaining urban order.
According to Thai News Agency, the Governor presided over the 12th/2025 meeting of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) heads. The meeting was attended electronically by BMA executives and department heads to minimize travel during periods of elevated PM2.5 dust levels. Mr. Chadchart expressed his appreciation to the Permanent Secretary of Bangkok, Deputy Permanent Secretary, executives, and officials for successfully organizing two major events: the highly praised Royal Cremation Ceremony and the smoothly executed Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok 2025, which saw participation from Her Majesty the Queen.
The Governor emphasized several urgent matters requiring continuous attention. He has urged network partners and the general public to adopt work-from-home practices to mitigate dust issues arising from traffic during high dust forecast periods. Additionally, Bangkok has called for stringent inspections and controls over construction sites, industrial plants, and vehicles emitting black smoke. Districts have been directed to enforce concrete actions, such as site inspections, site closure orders, and bans on black-emitting vehicles.
Addressing the high tides, the Governor noted that this period marks the year’s final occurrence of high tides. He has requested that residents outside embankments be safeguarded, involving checks on sandbag placements and wooden bridge constructions, particularly at vulnerable points.
Moreover, the Bangkok Governor has tasked all district directors with overseeing the enforcement of street vendor and stall regulations, as well as monitoring construction projects affecting the public. He stressed the need for order and adherence to the operational plan, concluding with a call to continue successful ongoing initiatives.
