Bangkok Port Pioneers NSW eD/O System to Enhance Logistics Efficiency

Bangkok: Bangkok Port has emerged as the first port in Thailand to pilot the NSW eD/O (Non-Warehouse Clearance Order) system, a move aimed at reducing procedures, paperwork, and logistics costs. The Port Authority of Thailand (PAT), in collaboration with the Customs Department, National Telecommunications Public Company Limited (NT), the Thai Shipping Association, and the Bangkok Shipowners and Agents Association (BSAA), has launched the Electronic Delivery Order (eD/O) system via the Thailand National Single Window (THAI NSW) platform at Bangkok Port.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Thammasin Sribangpleenoi, Deputy Director of Bangkok Port, stated that the launch of the NSW eD/O system is a collaborative effort with five pilot shipping lines: CMA CGM, SITC, ESL, Heung-A Line, and Sinokor. The initiative is free of charge and represents a significant step in the development of Bangkok Port as the first pilot port in the country to fully implement an electronic cargo release order system. This system aims to connect data between shipping lines, ports, and operators, thereby reducing procedures, minimizing paperwork, and shortening processing times and costs. It enhances the speed and efficiency of cargo handling and transitions Bangkok Port's services to a paperless system, aligning with the Smart Port concept. This development is expected to provide greater convenience for users, increase confidence in data accuracy and security, and serve as a crucial starting point for upgrading the country's logistics system. PAT has ensured the preparedness of the sy stem, personnel, and service procedures, including conducting workshops with relevant agencies and operators to guarantee continuous and efficient system operation. PAT encourages shipping lines, operators, and users to utilize the NSW eD/O system to collectively improve the efficiency of Thailand's logistics services.

Mr. Panthong Loykulnan, Director-General of the Customs Department, noted that the NSW eD/O system facilitates rapid, secure, and real-time data connectivity between shipping lines, ports, and operators. This system enhances overall import efficiency and supports the development of the country's customs processes and logistics system towards digitalization. The launch of the NSW eD/O system is another significant step for the Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) in developing Bangkok Port into a Smart Port. This is achieved by upgrading services through digital technology and integrating data with government and private sector agencies to drive efficient and seamless national logistics, thereby supporting the future growth of international trade.

The event, chaired by Mr. Thamsin Sribangpleenoi, Deputy Director of Bangkok Port, was attended by Mr. Panthong Loykulnan, Director-General of the Customs Department; Mr. Wongkot Wijakksangsith, Senior Vice President for Digital Operations, National Telecommunications Public Company Limited (NT); the Thai Shipping Association; the Bangkok Shipowners and Agents Association (BSAA); operators; and service users. It took place at the One-Stop Service Center for bill and service charges, Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) building.
