Bangkok Temples Extend Hours for Spectacular New Year Sunset Views

Bangkok: Wat Phra Chetuphon, also known as Wat Pho, and Wat Saket Temple are extending their operational hours to provide a unique viewing experience for visitors during the New Year celebrations. Both temples will remain open until 10 PM, allowing guests to witness Bangkok’s sunset from premier vantage points.

According to Thai News Agency, Wat Saket Temple, home to the renowned ‘Phu Khao Thong’ (Golden Mount), will offer extended hours on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day 2026. This initiative gives visitors an opportunity to appreciate the sunset and the city’s nighttime beauty, with the temple’s location being favored by international tourists for sunset views.

Additionally, Wat Phra Kaew (Golden Mount) will provide breathtaking night views of Bangkok from December 25, 2025, to January 15, 2026. On December 23, the temple will extend its hours to 10 PM as a trial, allowing visitors to enjoy the Chao Phraya Fireworks Show 2025 from an elevated position.
