Bhumjaithai Party Hosts Extraordinary Meeting Amid Political Shifts

Bangkok: The Bhumjaithai Party convened a special general meeting to establish various committees in preparation for the upcoming election. This significant gathering was attended by prominent members, including Varawut Silpa-archa of the Chartthaipattana Party.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, provided insights before the 1/2025 Extraordinary General Meeting. He discussed the ongoing flooding crisis in the South following a visit to Hat Yai District in Songkhla Province. The Prime Minister reported that Phatthalung and Songkhla are severely affected, with potential worsening in the southern border provinces. Evacuation centers have been organized, and water levels are expected to decrease in the coming days if no further rainfall occurs. Additionally, financial aid assessments for affected individuals are underway.

The atmosphere of the Bhumjaithai Party’s meeting focused on election preparation, with expectations of forming committees such as the Strategy Committee, Candidate Selection Committee, and Policy Committee. A focal point was the potential alliance with a political group led by Varawut Silpa-archa, who arrived with key members like Nikorn Chamnong and several MPs from various regions.

Notable attendees included Chonburi’s influential figures Sonthaya Khunpluem, Wittaya Khunpluem, and members of the Pitutecha family. Piya Pitutecha, president of the Rayong Provincial Administrative Organization, also made an appearance, indicating a significant political consolidation within the Bhumjaithai Party.
