Big Dul Unfazed by Defence Ministry Leadership Amid Thai-Cambodian Tensions

Bangkok: General Prawit Wongsuwan has expressed confidence in the readiness of the Thai armed forces as he prepares to lead the Ministry of Defence, underscoring their capability to safeguard the nation. He highlighted the importance of not succumbing to rumors or social media speculation in light of potential Thai-Cambodian conflicts. Additionally, an investigation is underway following Weera Thongprasert's disclosure about unauthorized BHQ entry into Thailand.

According to Thai News Agency, Lieutenant General Adul Boonthamcharoen addressed concerns about assuming office amidst the current Thai-Cambodian border tensions. He emphasized his confidence in the armed forces' commanders and their shared commitment to national defense. Stressing the unity and shared ideology among military personnel, he assured that their educational background fosters teamwork and resilience, eliminating any need for concern.

The focus on border issue management, particularly with Cambodia's upcoming national elections, was highlighted by Lieutenant General Adul. He reassured that Thailand's defense mechanisms are robust, supported by a comprehensive Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance system that can detect potential conflicts. He advised the public to rely on official channels for information and cautioned against the influence of social media, which might propagate misinformation amidst hybrid warfare threats.

Lieutenant General Adul also addressed allegations made by Mr. Veera Somkwamkid regarding bribery and illegal BHQ soldier entries. He emphasized trust in the soldiers over such allegations, while acknowledging the value of initial information from Mr. Veera. He assured that all reports are being verified on the ground, maintaining a stance of openness to information and collaboration in verifying facts to guide further actions.
