‘Bombing the Bandit Bridge’ destroys large cable lines, secretly strung them onto the Mekong Bridge.

Thatchai Pitaneelabut, Assistant Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, Mr. Trirat Viriyasirikul, Acting Secretary-General of the NBTC, along with NBTC officials, Mukdahan Provincial Police jointly announced the results of the arrest of those who illegally brought internet signals provided in Thailand, dragging cables across the 2nd Thai-Laos Friendship Bridge (Mukdahan-Savannakhet) into neighboring countries, a distance of up to 5 kilometers, allowing the network to distribute internet signals covering a large area, supporting a large number of users, making it convenient for call center gangs to deceive Thais, comparable to setting up a base in Thailand. The behavior of this network is considered audacious, blatant, and fearless of the law. Pol. Gen. Natthatorn said that this operation is a collaboration between the NBTC and the Royal Thai Police in continuously visiting the area to control and supervise telecommunications businesses to comply with the law. In this case, it was found that there was a private company that was licensed to operate telecommunications businesses by the NBTC to operate only within Thailand. The company had the behavior of installing an internet switchboard at the border and illegally strung high-speed signal cables across the 2nd Thai-Laos Friendship Bridge (Mukdahan-Savannakhet) to illegally distribute signals to neighboring countries. From the inspection using the NBTC's special equipment, it was found that this network had been run deep into the neighboring country, more than 5 kilometers away, allowing the network to distribute internet signals to cover a large economic area, supporting more than ten thousand users simultaneou sly, making it convenient for the call center gang to deceive Thais, equivalent to setting up a base in Thailand. Such actions are an offense of operating telecommunications businesses without a license, which is an offense under Section 67 (3) of the Telecommunications Business Act. Which is subject to a maximum penalty of imprisonment not exceeding 5 years or a fine not exceeding 10 million baht, or both. Pol. Lt. Gen. Thatchai said that according to the government's policy, the Royal Thai Police have been assigned to strictly suppress online crimes, especially the call center gangs, which have caused great suffering to the public. Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, the national police chief, has assigned Pol. Lt. Gen. Thatchai Pitaneelabut, assistant national police chief and deputy director of the Royal Thai Police Crime Suppression Division (TCSD), to be the operator. Today's arrests are a collaboration with the NBTC to prevent offenders from easily accessing various tools, including dismantling cables, sear ching SIM booths, seizing 101,068 Thai SIM cards, SIM BOXes, and many other devices, along with organizing small shops nationwide, which has made significant progress in each area. The cable smuggling gang that we arrested today is considered an act that has no fear of the law. It is different from previous cases that we have arrested, where cables were smuggled along natural channels through rivers, but this time it was dragged across a border bridge. This is the first case that we have detected. After this, all units responsible for border areas have been ordered to coordinate with the NBTC to investigate wrongdoings of this nature.
