Bangkok: "Boonrit and his accomplices" are being prepared for detention tomorrow. A former Bangkok MP candidate from the People's Party and his associates continue to deny money laundering related to drug trafficking, but admit to being directors of or having involvement with the TKP company network. The questioning is still ongoing, and they are scheduled to be remanded in custody at the Criminal Court tomorrow.
According to Thai News Agency, the progress of the investigation into the drug trafficking money laundering case involving the TKP company network saw a significant development when the Narcotics Suppression Division police launched an operation and arrested four suspects yesterday. Among them is Mr. Boonrit, who was a former candidate for Member of Parliament in Bangkok's District 33, representing the People's Party.
All four suspects maintain their innocence, admitting only to their roles as company directors or bank account holders. Mr. Boonrit specifically confessed to being a director of one of the four companies in the TKP network but denied any involvement in the drug trafficking money laundering scheme. Despite their claims, police have reportedly gathered substantial evidence linking the suspects to the money laundering activities. Consequently, they have been charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering. Additional investigations are underway, and further charges could be filed if evidence suggests involvement in other offenses, such as using nominees.
Today, the Narcotics Suppression Police announced plans to present all four suspects before the Criminal Court for remand before noon tomorrow. The interrogation phase is not yet complete, and investigators intend to oppose bail due to the severity of the charges and potential penalties.
