Bangkok: The Border Patrol Police officer who shot a motorcycle taxi driver has been remanded in custody. His father revealed his son is under severe stress and cries constantly, and they are urgently raising 1 million baht in collateral to apply for bail in court.

According to Thai News Agency, the father of Police Sergeant Namthap, the suspect in the fatal shooting, arrived at Huai Khwang Police Station early this morning to visit his son. He shared a tearful conversation with his son, who expressed extreme stress and anxiety about the case. The father is currently attempting to gather 1 million baht for bail, even mortgaging his Bangkok condominium to secure the necessary funds.

Regarding interviews given by the victim's relatives to the media, the suspect's father chose not to engage in further arguments, emphasizing the importance of awaiting the judicial process to uncover the truth. He urged the public to consider the facts before forming opinions.

When questioned about attending the victim's funeral, the suspect's father expressed his desire to offer condolences but cited his current preoccupation with bail arrangements and concerns over potential emotional conflicts with the victim's family. He assured that he would attend once his obligations were settled.

At 1:40 PM, reporters noted that investigators escorted Police Sergeant Namthap to the Criminal Court to request a remand order. While he appeared tense, he briefly apologized but did not elaborate on his motives. Investigators initially charged him with intentional homicide, attempted homicide, and illegal firearm possession. He was then taken to the Criminal Court for remand.
