Watthana Nakhon: A brave woman fought off a king cobra with her bare hands after being bitten while searching for mushrooms in Sa Kaeo Province. The incident left Ms. Supin, aged 47, with a gaping wound, but she managed to subdue the snake and seek medical help.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Supin encountered the king cobra on the morning of April 19 while foraging for mushrooms in a eucalyptus forest near the Khlong Khantho reservoir. She was accompanied by five relatives, including three adults and two children, when the snake lunged at her. Despite dodging the initial strike, the cobra bit her twice, causing significant injuries.
Describing the encounter, Ms. Supin explained how she used her hands and feet to fight back. She kicked and stomped on the snake’s neck, eventually pinning it to the ground. Her relatives assisted in securing the snake, which weighed 4.6 kilograms, and they promptly transported Ms. Supin to Somdej Phra Yupparat Hospital in Sa Kaeo.
During the journey, which took over two and a half hours, Ms. Supin held onto the snake’s neck to ensure doctors could identify the species for appropriate treatment. Upon arrival, medical staff administered serum and treated her wounds, leading to an improvement in her condition.
