Buriram: Twelve funeral associations in Buriram affiliated with the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) have jointly declared their ongoing stability and transparency. They affirmed that death benefits for deceased members continue to be paid in full, countering rumors of issues encountered in other provinces. Local residents, undeterred by social media rumors, persist in paying their annual funeral benefits in advance and are signing up for new memberships.
According to Thai News Agency, recent reports highlighted the cessation of operations by several funeral associations across various provinces, leaving surviving members unable to reclaim their advance payments. In response, Mr. Kongsak Wongthananan, Chairman of the Buriram Provincial Funeral Association Committee, along with Mr. Suchart Gridram, Secretary of the association, and presidents of all 12 BAAC customer and depositor funeral associations in Buriram province, held a press conference. They reassured more than 200,000 members of the associations' stability and transparent management, ensuring that all deceased members received their full funeral benefits with no risk of collapse or cessation of operations.
The atmosphere among members of the BAAC funeral assistance association in Buriram remains unchanged, with members continuing to make advance payments for funeral benefits. Heirs of deceased members are also applying for new memberships, reflecting their confidence in the association's management.
Family members of deceased members attending the press conference shared their experiences. They noted that their parents had been long-standing members of the BAAC Buriram branch's funeral assistance fund. One individual recounted how their father, who passed away on February 10, 2026, was honored with a full funeral assistance payment of 323,000 baht just two days after the funeral on February 16, 2026.
Another attendee shared that after their mother's passing, they and their husband opted for new membership due to their unwavering trust in the BAAC Funeral Assistance Association's management. They confirmed receiving the full funeral benefit in a single lump sum, devoid of installment payments or issues, unlike the problems reported in other associations.
