Mae sot: Burmese soldiers clashed fiercely, resulting in bullets crossing the border and injuring a villager on the Thai side. Myanmar soldiers continue to engage in heavy clashes on the Thai-Myanmar border, prompting Thai soldiers to increase their presence to closely monitor the situation.
According to Thai News Agency, the ongoing conflict between the Myanmar military and opposition forces has led to a volatile situation along the Thai-Myanmar border. The exchanges of fire, involving heavy weapons and machine guns, are occurring in the area of Ban Min La Pan, Myawaddy District, Myawaddy Province, which is opposite the Thai border at Ban Mai Mae Kon Ken, Mae Sot District, Tak Province.
Reporters who surveyed four border villages in Ban Mae Kon Ken observed a significant decline in activity, with many shops closed and the central market quiet. Ms. Ramphrai, a resident of Ban Mae Kon Ken, expressed her fear as her home is located near the line of fire. Having lived in Mae Sot for over 20 years and working as a merchant, she noted that fewer people are coming to buy goods due to the ongoing conflict in Myanmar. She described how bullets and shrapnel frequently fly into her home, forcing her and her neighbors to seek shelter.
In a recent incident, heavy exchanges of fire led to a war bullet injuring 67-year-old Mrs. Lao Pin, as it grazed her left thigh. In response, military, administrative, and border patrol police officers have increased their presence, deploying weapons to secure sensitive areas along the border in Mae Sot District, Tak Province. Authorities are also closely monitoring the situation amid reports of a planned Myanmar military operation to retake territory from opposition forces occupying Min La Pan Village in Myawaddy District, Myanmar.
