Bangkok: The Cabinet has acknowledged a series of relief measures aimed at addressing the ongoing situation along the Thai-Cambodian border. These measures were proposed by the Ministry of Commerce to mitigate the impact of the conflict that has been ongoing since July 2025.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Airin Panrit highlighted that the Ministry of Commerce has been closely monitoring the trade situation. A workshop, held on September 29, 2025, brought together representatives from seven border provinces, including Ubon Ratchathani, Surin, Buriram, and Trat. Participants comprised provincial governors or their deputies, industrial councils, commerce officials, and various agencies and businesses. The insights gathered from this session were organized into four main categories based on the affected groups.
For the general public, the government is committed to ensuring fair prices and a sufficient supply of goods. It plans to organize sales events with affordable products to help reduce the cost of living and is promoting supplementary occupations to increase people's income.
Farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs are encouraged to expand their domestic marketing channels, connecting with central markets, cooperatives, and processing plants. Efforts are also being made to reduce production costs, such as those for fertilizers and agricultural inputs.
Small retailers and OTOP entrepreneurs will receive support to sell their products beyond their local areas. This includes providing free exhibition and sales space and creating connections with hotels, restaurants, and tourist attractions.
For exporters, the focus is on finding new markets to replace lost ones, facilitating logistics, and promoting domestic consumption to mitigate short-term impacts.
Furthermore, supplementary measures in the financial sector, economic stimulus efforts, expense reduction initiatives for individuals and businesses, and labor measures are being implemented to create jobs and income in the affected areas. The government is committed to integrating the efforts of all sectors to provide tangible relief and support for the public, farmers, and businesses, ensuring they can overcome this situation in a stable and sustainable manner.
