Bangkok: The Cabinet has approved the preliminary prices for sugarcane and sugar for the 2025/2026 crop year across all nine agricultural zones. Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the Cabinet approved the setting of the initial sugarcane price and the initial return on sugar production and sales for the 2025/2026 production season, as proposed by the Ministry of Industry. A single price will be set nationwide, covering nine calculation zones, to enable sugar factories to pay sugarcane farmers on time, as well as to provide working capital for sugarcane cultivation, maintenance, and livelihoods.

According to Thai News Agency, the initial price of sugarcane at a sweetness level of 10 CCS was set at 890 baht per ton of sugarcane, with a price adjustment rate of 53.40 baht per unit of CCS. At the same time, the initial return on sugar production and sales at a sweetness level of 10 CCS was set at 381.43 baht per ton of sugarcane.

Most of the relevant agencies have no objections and view this pricing action as legal, ensuring the continued operation of the sugarcane and sugar system and supporting sugarcane farmers' income at the beginning of the production season.
