Cambodia Attacks Convenience Store in Kantharalak Gas Station, Orders Evacuation of 7 Sub-Districts

Kantharalak district: In an alarming development, Kantharalak District in Sisaket Province has ordered the immediate evacuation of residents across seven sub-districts following an attack on a convenience store located within a gas station. The incident has resulted in numerous injuries, prompting swift action from local authorities.

According to Thai News Agency, the attack involved a loud noise, the source of which remains unclear, with speculations pointing towards either a gunshot or a bomb. The incident has triggered an urgent evacuation order for seven sub-districts: Phu Pha Mok, Sao Thong Chai, Rung, Lalai, Non Samran, Bueng Malu, Cham, and 80 villages that are considered at-risk areas. Residents and schools have been instructed to move to safe locations immediately.

The attack on the convenience store, located in Ban Phue within Kantharalak District, was reportedly caused by a BM21 bullet from the Cambodian side, which landed on the gas station. This has led to many injuries, although the precise number of injured persons remains unspecified. The 2nd Army Region has confirmed the origin of the projectile, heightening tensions in the area.
