Sa kaeo: Tense conditions prevail at the Khlong Luek border crossing in Sa Kaeo province. Relatives are in tears of worry after their children and grandchildren working in Cambodia have not yet been allowed to cross back into Thailand.
According to Thai News Agency, the atmosphere at the Klong Luek border crossing in Aranyaprathet district, Sa Kaeo province, remains tense. Relatives waiting to pick up Thais working in Cambodia wept with worry upon learning that their children and grandchildren have not yet been allowed to cross back into Thailand. Meanwhile, continuous clashes from the border area are still heard, with intermittent artillery fire.
Relatives of Thai workers reported that Cambodian authorities have ordered all Thais waiting at the border crossing to return inside, threatening hostage-taking if they disobey. Furthermore, there is a ban on taking photos or videos to send to the Thai side; any phone being used will be confiscated immediately. This has caused great concern among the waiting families regarding the safety of the stranded Thais. Recently, the Commander of the Sa Kaeo Provincial Police joined negotiations with Cambodian authorities, but the talks have yielded no progress. The Cambodian side stated that they must wait for the Thai Embassy to officially negotiate again.
