Cambodian Ex-Wife of Village Headman Detained Under Martial Law

Sa kaeo: Military officers have detained Mrs. Thonglat, also known as “Jae Lat,” a 63-year-old Cambodian woman, under martial law after her presence in a military-controlled border area was reported by intelligence. She is the former wife of Mr. To Sarin, or Kamnan Lee, a Cambodian national, and was apprehended at a house in Sa Kaeo Province.

According to Thai News Agency, Mrs. Thonglat was found residing at house number 30, Moo 3, Non Mak Mun Subdistrict, Khok Sung District. Her arrest was made under the provisions of martial law after intelligence reports indicated her presence in a designated military zone at the border. Subsequently, she was taken from the Nong Khu Buddhist monastery in Huai Chot Subdistrict to the Khok Sung Police Station, where she is being held for a seven-day detention period.

Reports have surfaced that a team from the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) has traveled to the police station to retrieve copies of Mrs. Thonglat’s mobile phone data. This step aims to facilitate further investigation and to scrutinize any potential security-related connections. The authorities are currently reviewing her communication history as part of their ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, security forces continue to maintain a vigilant presence in the border area, responding to heightened tensions between Thailand and Cambodia.
