Bangkok: Captain Thamanat Phromphao, a prominent figure in Thai politics and a Prime Minister candidate, has strongly dismissed allegations of vote-buying at 7,500 baht per head as impossible. The Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, who also serves as the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Kla Tham Party, expressed disbelief at the figures revealed by a survey conducted by the Zero Corruption Working Group.
According to Thai News Agency, Captain Thamanat reacted with astonishment upon hearing the alleged price per vote, questioning the validity of such claims. He reiterated that achieving such a scheme would require an impractical expenditure of 30 billion baht. Instead, Captain Thamanat expressed confidence in the popularity of his party, asserting that "Kla Tham" ranks consistently in the top five in popularity polls across various provinces.
Captain Thamanat further addressed his party's campaign strategy, emphasizing that Kla Tham Party adheres to clear principles under the leadership of Professor Narumon Pinyosinwat. He assured that the party would not engage in any actions that undermine the nation's pillars, namely the country, religion, and the monarchy. He also clarified that while his party is open to post-election alliances, they would not cooperate with parties that have previously harmed the nation or support the amendment of Article 112.
Responding to questions about premature government formation rumors, Captain Thamanat dismissed them, stating that the number of seats each party would secure remains uncertain. He criticized the desperation of some parties to form a government and expressed confidence in the Kla Tham Party's ability to secure a significant number of seats. Captain Thamanat concluded by emphasizing the party's commitment to campaigning against constitutional amendments that could undermine the nation's foundational chapters.
