Car bomb near Panare police station, 2 injured, suspected connection to Tak Bai case

Unrest in the South! A perpetrator planted a car bomb next to the Panare Police Station in Pattani Province, causing heavy damage and injuring two people.

This morning (24 October), reporters traveled to the scene of the incident and found that it was an alley between the Panare Police Station and the Panare District Office. They found a damaged car with parts scattered all over the area. It is believed that this was the car that the perpetrators used to assemble a car bomb.

It was also found that the force of the explosion damaged government offices in the area, including the Panare Police Station, Panare District Office, Panare District Public Health Office, the Informal Learning Center, and the houses of the villagers. Most of the buildings, glass, windows, and roofs were damaged. It was also found that several police cars were damaged and two police officers were slightly injured.

From the investigation, it was found that during the incident there were 2 perpetrators. The first one was responsible for
bringing the car used to carry the bomb and parking it in the alley between the Panare Police Station and the district office. The other perpetrator was responsible for riding a motorcycle following behind. When the perpetrators parked the car, they got out of the car and quickly got on the other perpetrator’s motorcycle before riding away. Then, about 10 minutes later, the explosion occurred.

Initial information indicates that the perpetrators’ car belongs to the Nam Dam Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Panare District, Pattani Province. Mr. Mahama Saruding, an employee of the Ban Nam Bo Subdistrict Administrative Organization, was notified and asked for help from the authorities after approximately 8-10 perpetrators stole a gray Mitsubishi Titan 4-door car with Pattani license plates from the Ban Nam Bo Subdistrict Administrative Organization.

At the time of the incident, there were four employees of the Subdistrict Administrative Organization on duty. They were tied up by the perpetrators before
their car was stolen. It is believed that before the incident, the perpetrators took the car to assemble a bomb in the area immediately before planting the bomb.

Currently, officers are still cordoning off the area and nearby areas to make the area safe before EOD officers and related units enter to inspect the scene. As for the cause, officers believe it was an attempt to create unrest in the area before the 20th anniversary of Tak Bai.

Narathiwat is under strict control, fearing unrest near the anniversary of the Tak Bai incident.

Meanwhile, in Narathiwat Province, especially at the border of Mueang District, three forces are working together to maintain strict security, especially at the main checkpoint at Ban Plak Pla. Police officers are focusing on thoroughly checking cars and motorcycles to prevent vehicles being stolen and used in crimes.

However, all officers are increasing the strictness of security at all points, in order to watch out for opportunities to cause chaos as the anniversary of the d
ispersal of the rally in front of Tak Bai Police Station approaches. In addition, the statute of limitations for arrest warrants issued for those involved in the incident will expire on October 25, so situations may be created to pressure officers.

Last night, in the area of ????Tambon Jeha, Tak Bai District, Narathiwat Province, a suspicious object containing a bomb was found placed at the base of an electric pole on the side of the Tak Bai-Hua Khlong Road, Village 6, Tambon Jeha, Tak Bai District, Narathiwat Province. Initially, the EOD team was contacted to inspect today.
