Bangkok: The Cabinet has announced the appointment of Chantanon Wannakhechorn as the new Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy. This decision was made during a recent Cabinet meeting where Wannakhechorn, previously serving as a Special Expert at the Prime Minister's Office, was selected to replace Prasert Sinsukprasert, who is set to retire on September 30, 2026.
According to Thai News Agency, Chantanon Wannakhechorn, born on May 23, 1971, brings a wealth of experience and education to his new role. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Bangkok University and a Master's degree in Business Administration from New Hampshire College, USA. Additionally, he has a certificate in English for Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA. Wannakhechorn's career in civil service began in the Ministry of Agriculture, where he was noted as a promising figure during Newin Chidchob's tenure as Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives.
Wannakhechorn's extensive work experience includes serving as the former Secretary-General of the Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE), Chairman of the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority (MWA), and Director at PTT Oil and Retail Public Company Limited (OR). His previous roles also encompass the position of Inspector General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Minister Counselor (Agriculture) at the Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo, Japan.
