Chonburi: A 53-year-old resident of Phanat Nikhom District was left homeless after a fire, believed to have been sparked by a charging mobile phone, razed his house to the ground. The incident occurred while the homeowner, Mr. Sathit, was tending to his pineapple plants nearby.

According to Thai News Agency, the fire broke out when Mr. Sathit left his phone charging and went downstairs to work on his agricultural activities. Upon turning back, he was confronted with the horrifying sight of his home consumed by flames. Despite his immediate efforts to extinguish the flames using water from a nearby pond, the fire had already taken hold, leaving nothing but charred remains.

Phanat Nikhom Police Station, in conjunction with the Namatut Subdistrict Administrative Organization, responded swiftly to the emergency call. However, the arrival of fire trucks was hampered by the narrow access routes, low-hanging electrical wires, and scattered debris around the property, which prevented them from effectively combating the fire. The blaze's intensity left the house beyond saving.

Mr. Sathit, now facing destitution, has appealed to local agencies for aid. In recounting the incident, he expressed his belief that the fire was likely ignited by the phone he had left charging. This incident serves as a poignant reminder of the potential dangers associated with unattended electronic devices.
