Bangkok: "Chatchai" reveals that he has not yet scheduled a meeting with the National Security Council to discuss security issues or the renewal of work permits for Cambodian workers. He indicated that they are waiting for the Labor Board's approval before submitting the matter to the Cabinet.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chatchai Bangchawad, Secretary-General of the National Security Council (NSC), stated that there has been no meeting of the NSC yet to discuss security issues. The need to wait for Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkaew, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, to return from the high-level meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC) in Geneva, Switzerland, has not been confirmed. Currently, the NSC is in the process of gathering necessary information to inform its decisions.

When questioned about the renewal of work permits for Cambodian workers, Mr. Chatchai mentioned that Ms. Trinouch Thianthong, the Minister of Labour, is awaiting clarification from security agencies. He noted that the matter has passed the Ministry of Labour's Foreign Workers Management Committee, which includes security agencies as part of the working group. Further discussions with the Ministry of Labour will be required, and if all details are resolved, the issue can be presented directly to the Cabinet, bypassing the need for NSC approval.

When asked about the potential need for an urgent NSC meeting given the current security and other issues, Mr. Chatchai emphasized that no such meeting is planned at present due to the caretaker status of the government. He acknowledged the responsibility of all security agencies to monitor the situation and stated that any actions required after the formation of a new government should be managed internally.
