Chiang Mai Election Preparations Underway with Ballot Distribution

Chiang mai: Chiang Mai is bustling with the distribution of ballots and election materials as the province prepares for tomorrow's parliamentary elections and referendum. Election officials in Constituency 1 gathered at the Chiang Mai City Hall auditorium to receive the necessary materials, with the process proceeding smoothly and no issues reported.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Noppadol Suya, Director of the Chiang Mai Provincial Election Commission Office, emphasized the importance of verifying the completeness of candidate lists, political parties, and prime ministerial candidates at polling stations. This is crucial to ensure adherence to the regulations set by the Election Commission.

Chiang Mai Province will facilitate voting across 2,789 polling stations, including over 200 in highland and remote areas such as Fang, Mae Ai, and others. The challenging terrain in these districts necessitates the use of four-wheel drive vehicles and sometimes requires officials to stay overnight in district towns due to long travel times. Specific areas like Na Kian Subdistrict and Mueang Ka Subdistrict face additional challenges due to poor mobile phone signals and transportation across Doi Tao Lake by boat.

The Chiang Mai Election Commission is targeting an 83% voter turnout, with unofficial results expected around 10 PM, except for remote stations anticipated after 1 AM. The director also noted ongoing investigations into several complaints, including the destruction of campaign signs and election law violations.
