Chongqing: Cities in China are using "driverless AI police cars" for patrolling during the Lunar New Year. According to Thai News Agency, the southwestern Chinese municipality of Chongqing is deploying unmanned aerial vehicles for intelligent surveillance to ensure order during the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations. China's official Xinhua news agency reported that two intelligent, driverless surveillance vehicles have been operating autonomously on the streets of Jiangjin District in Chongqing Municipality since January. The vehicles are capable of 24-hour patrolling and have been shown to perform approximately 40 tasks per day, detecting and issuing warnings for over 300 traffic violations. These smart vehicles are equipped with lidar, ultrasonic sensors, and high-resolution cameras, which enable them to avoid obstacles in real time and navigate smoothly through congested traffic. They are also fitted with intelligent warning lights, LED advertising screens, and emergency response equipment such as a first-aid kit including an automated external defibrillator (AED) and fire extinguishing tools, allowing them to provide timely assistance at the scene of incidents.
