Bangkok: China has initiated a nationwide fire safety inspection campaign targeting high-rise buildings in response to a devastating fire in a Hong Kong apartment building that resulted in the deaths of at least 128 people.

According to Thai News Agency, the Ministry of Emergency Management announced that the campaign would focus particularly on buildings undergoing exterior wall renovations and interior modifications. The initiative aims to prevent similar incidents by ensuring that fire safety measures are adequately implemented and adhered to.

The inspection project has outlined four primary areas of focus: the use of flammable materials in exterior wall insulation systems, the prohibition of certain construction materials such as bamboo scaffolding, the presence and functionality of fire safety equipment, and the accessibility of emergency evacuation routes.
