Bangkok: China has provided 20 million yuan ($2.8 million) in humanitarian aid to Thailand, split equally between cash and relief supplies, as the two nations reaffirm their bilateral ties. During a meeting with Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, Chinese Ambassador Zhang Jianwei delivered the assistance and expressed his condolences regarding a recent fatal crane collapse at a high-speed railway construction site.

According to Thai News Agency, Ambassador Zhang also praised Thailand's ongoing efforts to combat cross-border scam syndicates. Following their meeting, Prime Minister Anutin convened an emergency session with transport officials to address construction safety standards. He has instructed the State Railway of Thailand to pursue legal action against the contractors and supervisors responsible for the accident.

In addition, the Prime Minister has directed a review of victim compensation to ensure higher payout rates. He has also summoned construction firms for a formal inquiry at Government House.
