Beijing: China is set to reduce tariffs on 935 imported goods starting January 1, 2026. The Tariff Commission of the State Council has announced this initiative as part of efforts to better integrate domestic and international markets.
According to Thai News Agency, the decision to temporarily apply import tariffs lower than the Most Favored Country (MFN) tariffs aims to foster collaboration between domestic and international markets. This move is expected to optimize the use of resources from both markets and increase the availability of high-quality goods.
The tariff reductions will cover a range of imported goods. Among them are key components and advanced materials that support high-tech self-reliance, resources that promote green development, and medical products like artificial blood vessels, which could improve people's lives.
China will also maintain agreed-upon tariffs on certain imports from 34 trading partners under 24 free trade and preferential agreements in 2026. This strategy aims to enhance economic and trade cooperation and encourage deeper regional integration. Additionally, China will continue to exempt all imports from tariffs from 43 least developed countries with which it has diplomatic relations.
