China’s Global Leadership in Renewable Energy Highlights Commitment to Climate Change Mitigation

Beijing: China's focus on climate change mitigation and its efforts to promote renewable energy were emphasized by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun. Guo stated that China is widely recognized for its commitment to addressing climate change and advancing the development and application of renewable energy on a global scale.

According to Thai News Agency, Guo's remarks were made in response to US President Donald Trump's comments at the World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in Davos. Trump suggested that while China produces a significant number of wind turbines, he has not observed any wind farms in China and criticized the country for selling wind turbines to "fools."

Guo highlighted that China has established the most comprehensive carbon reduction policy system globally and boasts the largest renewable energy system worldwide. He emphasized China's readiness to collaborate with all parties to promote a global transition to a green and low-carbon economy, aiming to create a clean and beautiful world collectively.

China's leadership in renewable energy is evident, with its installed wind power capacity leading the world for 15 consecutive years. This capacity is expected to surpass 600 million kilowatts by November 2025. Additionally, China's export of wind and solar power products between 2021 and 2025 is projected to help reduce carbon emissions in other countries by approximately 4.1 billion tons.
