Chinese Ambassador and Thai Prime Minister Collaborate to Boost 2026 Chinese New Year Festival

Bangkok: The Chinese Ambassador met with the Prime Minister to congratulate him on the election results and to move forward with Thai-Chinese relations on the occasion of the 51st anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China. Meanwhile, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is organizing the 2026 Chinese New Year Festival to promote tourism.

According to Thai News Agency, His Excellency Mr. Zhang Jianwei, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Thailand, and his delegation met with Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul to promote the 2026 Chinese New Year Festival in Thailand. The Ambassador congratulated the Prime Minister on his majority victory in the recent election and expressed gratitude for his scheduled attendance at the Chinese New Year celebration at the Chinese Embassy in Thailand tomorrow, which symbolizes the close ties between the two nations.

The Prime Minister emphasized that 2026, marking the 51st anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China, is an opportunity to enhance cooperation at all levels. The Thai government is prepared to collaborate closely with China to strengthen the understanding, trust, and connections between their people and cultures.

Both sides agreed that the 2026 Thailand Chinese New Year Festival will be crucial in promoting tourism and encouraging Chinese tourists to visit Thailand throughout the year. They committed to maintaining and enhancing cooperation to promote tourism and economic collaboration, benefiting both countries in the long term.

The Prime Minister participated in a photo session to promote the 2026 Thailand Chinese New Year Festival with representatives from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China and TAT. A ceremonial horse was presented to the Prime Minister during this occasion.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), along with government and private sector partners, is organizing the "Amazing Thailand Happy Chinese New Year 2026" festival to celebrate the 51st anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China. Main activities will occur in Bangkok, with Yaowarat (Chinatown) illuminated from February 7th to March 1st, 2026, and a festival at Siam Paragon from February 14th to 18th, 2026, featuring cultural performances and demonstrations by renowned artists.

Additionally, TAT is organizing the Amazing Thailand Chinese New Year 2026 @ Hat Yai event from February 17-20, 2026, in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province. This event will feature contemporary Chinese art and culture, performances, workshops, and over 100 shops. TAT is also supporting Chinese New Year celebrations in key provinces and integrating efforts with shopping malls and private sector businesses nationwide to stimulate tourism and create a festive atmosphere during the 2026 Chinese New Year festival.
