Chonburi Residents Demand Recount Amid Ballot Controversy

Chonburi: Crowds are gradually gathering to await the results of the recount in District 1, Chonburi. A group of people awaiting a recount in Chonburi's District 1 are gradually gathering to hear the Election Commission's (EC) response. They have vowed to escalate their pressure if a recount is not carried out.

According to Thai News Agency, the protest began after Chonburi residents searched for their ballot boxes and found them gathered together on a truck at the Chonburi Municipal Stadium in an unusual manner. Some ballots lacked security seals, and others were missing the signatures of polling station officials. This led to the protesters gathering to pressure the provincial EC to recount the votes.

The situation escalated when the Deputy Secretary-General of the EC stated that a recount was not possible due to legal restrictions. The protesters refused to disperse, and the demonstration has continued until now.
