Chulabhorn Royal Academy Unveils Thai-Made ‘Lab-on-a-Chip’ for Space Station

Bangkok: Chulabhorn Royal Academy has announced a significant milestone in Thai technological innovation with the successful production of a Thai-made "Lab-on-a-chip." This device, which miniaturizes a laboratory onto a small chip, is set to be sent to the International Space Station.

According to Thai News Agency, the announcement was made during a press conference held at the Sri Savangavadhana College of Medicine building, Chulabhorn Royal Academy. The event marked the launch of the 'TIGERS-X' project, which stands for Thailand Innovative G-force varied Emulsification Research for Space exploration. As part of this initiative, Thai-developed scientific experiments are being dispatched to the International Space Station. The Lab-on-a-chip, a key component of this project, is designed to fit into a laptop-sized payload box, demonstrating a groundbreaking approach to conducting medical research in space.

The project also signifies Thailand's first operation of a mission control room that connects data directly from space to Earth, highlighting the country's advancement in space-related scientific research.
