Ang thong: Chulaphan Amornvivat, leader of the Pheu Thai Party, spearheaded a team to the flood-stricken Phong Pheng Subdistrict in Ang Thong Province, where they provided relief supplies and engaged with affected villagers. He emphasized the need for a systematic water management strategy and urged Prime Minister Anutin to witness the situation firsthand rather than relying solely on official reports.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chulaphan, alongside Dr. Sriyada Palimaphun, Ms. Linthiporn Warinwatcharoj, Mr. Payu Nuengjamnong, Ms. Penchisa Hongupathamchai, and Mr. Natsakorn Khruesiri, visited Village No. 5 in Pa Mok District. The team discussed the villagers’ challenges due to prolonged flooding and distributed essential supplies, including relief bags, rice, and dried food.
Mr. Chulaphan expressed his concerns about the current flooding situation affecting the central region, from Sukhothai to Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. Highlighting the heaviest rainfall in 40 years, he noted the failure of three floodwalls. He called for the implementation of automatic floodgate systems and government assistance in elevating homes. He also advocated for a comprehensive water management policy by the Pheu Thai Party to alleviate the people’s suffering.
He emphasized that while Pheu Thai Party leaders have visited the area to support the locals, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has not. Mr. Chulaphan urged him to personally assess the situation and provide clear directions to ensure cohesive efforts in addressing the issues and delivering prompt assistance.
Mr. Chulaphan assured that the Pheu Thai Party remains committed to working closely with the people, addressing their concerns, and providing support, stating, “We work hard, closely with the people, listening to their concerns and resolving them. The Pheu Thai Party will never abandon the people. I send my support to all of you.”
