Bangkok: Authorities have successfully conducted a raid on an illegal factory, seizing over 220,000 counterfeit products valued at more than 2.6 million baht, and arresting four suspects who have all confessed to the charges.

According to Thai News Agency, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), in collaboration with the Department of Intellectual Property, executed the raid through the Economic Crime Suppression Division. The facility, which was involved in the production and storage of counterfeit goods, was found to contain fake versions of popular brands such as Nescafe, Ovaltine, and Downy. The operation resulted in the seizure of 226,720 counterfeit items, raising concerns about potential dangers from residual chemicals and substandard raw materials used in these products.

The investigation led to the discovery of two key locations: a warehouse in the Chaloem Phra Kiat District of Saraburi Province and a residence in Bang Mod, Bangkok. These sites were uncovered following complaints from residents and shop owners in the Thonburi area, who reported individuals posing as salespeople selling counterfeit products at reduced prices.

The seized products, primarily consisting of counterfeit coffee, cocoa, and fabric softener, underscore a significant illicit operation with a value exceeding 2.6 million baht. The CIB police continue to caution the public about the health risks associated with counterfeit products, which are often manufactured in unsanitary conditions with low-grade raw materials. Such products pose a risk of accumulating toxins in vital organs, with counterfeit fabric softeners potentially causing severe skin irritation and allergies.
