Compensation Announced for Families of Crane-Train Accident Victims

Bangkok: In the crane-train collapse incident, compensation of 1.69 million baht per family will be provided to the families of the deceased. The governor of Nakhon Ratchasima revealed that compensation of 1.69 million baht per family will be given to those who died in the crane-train accident.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anupong Suksomnit, Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima Province, stated that compensation for those who died in the construction crane collapse on a passenger train at the high-speed rail bridge construction site in Sikhiu District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, which resulted in 32 deaths and 64 injuries, will initially be provided by the State Railway of Thailand with 1 million baht and 340,000 baht from insurance. In addition, there will be further compensation of 200,000 baht per person under the Act on Compensation for Victims and Defendants in Criminal Cases, and an additional 150,000 baht from Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited. In total, the deceased will receive an initial payment of 1,690,000 baht. Those injured will receive 50,000 baht each initially and will receive further compensation according to their legal entitlements.
