Bangkok: A construction crane collapsed in Soi Charoen Krung 36, Bang Rak Subdistrict, Bang Rak District, Bangkok, injuring one person and causing panic among local residents and passersby. The incident, which took place in a densely populated area known for its economic and residential significance, prompted immediate response from relevant authorities who are currently investigating the cause of the collapse and assessing the damage.
According to Thai News Agency, the accident occurred at 12:25 PM on July 3, 2026. The collapse injured one person, who was quickly provided first aid by rescue teams before being transported to Lertsin Hospital. Seven others have been taken to the hospital for precautionary measures. Authorities have cordoned off part of the affected area to facilitate ongoing operations and prevent public access to potentially dangerous zones.
Investigations have revealed that the collapse was triggered when a mobile crane accidentally snagged a steel structure measuring approximately 2.00 x 2.00 x 6.00 meters. This structure was used for storing steel pipes intended for pouring concrete piles. The snagging of the steel structure led to its collapse and subsequent injuries.
In response to the incident, authorities have issued an administrative letter to halt construction activities at the site until effective solutions and preventive measures are proposed. This decision aims to ensure the safety of workers and residents and prevent similar incidents in the future.
