Bangkok: The Customs Department is mobilizing forces to assist flood victims in the South and is opening a donation point for essential items. Following Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Dr. Ekniti Nitithanpraphas’s directive for all units under the Ministry of Finance to provide urgent assistance to people affected by the southern floods, the Customs Department, led by Director-General Panthong Loikulnan, has responded to this policy by instructing all local agencies to expedite flood relief efforts for those affected by the floods in various areas of Songkhla, Satun, and the lower southern region.
According to Thai News Agency, the Satun-Pakbara Investigation and Suppression Unit, Investigation and Suppression Division 2, has visited Kuan Don District, Satun Province, to provide initial assistance to flood victims. The unit distributed over 2,000 bottles of drinking water to households through community leaders, as well as to at-risk areas, distributing it to hard-to-reach homes. They also provided life jackets, boats, and personnel in areas experiencing high water levels. They are coordinating with local administrative organizations and various rescue units to ensure the fastest and most efficient relief efforts.
The Customs Department has also visited Koh Mi Subdistrict, Songkhla Province, with relief supplies to urgently evacuate stranded residents. Currently, many communities are in dire need of food, drinking water, and other essential items. The Customs Department is expediting coordination with local authorities to survey affected households and prepare further assistance.
