Bangkok: DE Deputy Permanent Secretary Ms. Chomparee Chompurat led the Thai delegation at the 1st ASEAN Digital Senior Officials Meeting - ASEAN Telecommunications Regulators' Council Leaders' Retreat. The retreat was held via teleconference from April 21-22, 2026, with Vietnam presiding as Chair at the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society.
According to Thai News Agency, the meeting focused on advancing ASEAN's digital initiatives. Key issues discussed included the implementation of the ASEAN Digital Masterplan 2023 and the outcomes of the 6th ASEAN Digital Ministers' Meeting. The participants also monitored the progress of project implementations under ADGSOM and ATRC in 2026 and considered project proposals for 2027. Additionally, the meeting endorsed the ASEAN Digital Work Plan with Dialogue Partners and Development Partners for implementation from 2026 onwards.
In a significant move, Thailand's Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) proposed the ASEAN Platform Transparency, Algorithmic Accountability and Cross-Border Data Governance Cooperation Framework. This proposal aims to enhance trust and accountability in ASEAN's digital ecosystem through a regional cooperation framework focusing on digital platform transparency and cross-border data governance.
