Ekniti Confirms Public Debt Ceiling Steady at 70%

Bangkok: Ekniti Nitithanprapha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, has confirmed that the public debt ceiling will remain unchanged at 70%. This announcement follows the conclusion of budget discussions, which adhered to the original principles set for fiscal year 2027.

According to Thai News Agency, Ekniti shared insights regarding the recent meeting that focused on budget allocation, involving four key agencies. He confirmed that all budget matters have been finalized, ensuring alignment with the initial guidelines.

When questioned about potential adjustments to the public debt ceiling from 70% to 75%, Ekniti indicated that such an extension is not currently under consideration. He affirmed that the ceiling would remain at its existing level of 70% before departing Government House.
